Sons Of Valor 2009

Sons of Valor is in transition. It really needs to be a manhood journey of fathers, sons, cousins, uncles, nephews, grandfathers and neighbors. We only cripple and perpetuate the unraveling of our society when we insist to have drop off groups where mothers trust their sons into the hands of another woman to be inspired and taught. Boys need men to help them learn and prepare for manly responsibilities.

I have worked on the hope chest journey for mothers and daughters. The tool box journey for boys and their fathers is being considered. More coming on what I feel it needs to look like. In reality, I feel it is the men in each group that will do the defining. I hope that this organization can facilitate the creation of this kind of opportunity for boys and men.

Who are Sons of Valor?

Sons of Valor...

From Supporters of Life
Arise
Defenders of Life.
Standing between
supporters of life and attackers of life,
are Men of Valor
who defend life.

We live in a time of wars and rumors of war.
Violence has been with us since the beginning of the World.
There was a War in Heaven.
Is there a proper role of violence?
What do the scriptures say?
What do the inspired writings of mankind say?
Is there an application today?

This class will explore this theme and more, using the scriptures,
classics, games of stratagem, hands on projects,
field trips, and more.

Due to the nature of Project Scholars and Self Directed Scholars
I can only share a basic course of study.
Additional texts will be determined by the flow of the class.

The basic Texts:
Our Central Canon
The Story of Liberty by Charles Coffin a chapter each week.
The Art of War by Sun Tzu a chapter each week

At the speed of the class:
The Hobbit by Tolkien
The Fellowship of the Ring by Tolkien
Two Towers by Tolkien
Return of the King by Tolkien

Other classics as interest and time permit.

The first half of every class is our class discussion and presentation time. Second half is hands on and stratagem time, where youths may bring games of Stratagem to play with class members. Field trips will be announced.
